Techniques used by our Arana Hills Chiropractor, Dr David Malone

Dr Malone is proficient in a variety of chiropractic adjusting techniques. The type of adjustment utilised for an individual takes into account a variety of factors such as the patient's age and the nature and location of the musculoskeletal problem.

Be assured that the adjustments given to you will be gentle and designed based upon your thorough history, examination and X-ray findings.

Your individually tailored program of care will ensure the best result for you in the shortest possible time. In some cases the best result is achieved by applying a combination of techniques in different regions of the spine.

Some examples of the chiropractic adjusting techniques used in our practice are described below.

Diversified and Gonstead techniques

Diversified and Gonstead techniques involve the application of a gentle and specific thrust to the restricted spinal joint to improve its position and/or function. Often these types of adjustment are accompanied by a clicking or popping sound from the joint….similar to clicking of the knuckles.

Thompson technique

The Thompson technique involves the use of a special adjusting table. This is a lighter form of manual adjustment.

Activator

The Activator is a hand held device which applies an extremely gentle and specific adjustment to the restricted spinal joint. The Activator instrument is generally what is used for the babies and children that visit our practice. The Activator is also great for the elderly, osteoporotic or acutely sore client.

Sacro-Occipital Technique (SOT)

The client lies on blocks which are strategically placed under the hips to correct pelvic joint/low back dysfunction.

Q & A

Do I have to have ongoing chiropractic care?

We offer relief, rehabilitation and supportive chiropractic care. Many people find significant benefit to their quality of life through chiropractic adjustments and for that reason they make the decision to be adjusted regularly. The choice will always be yours regarding the type of care you wish to receive.

I'm pregnant, can I have chiropractic care?

Yes. Chiropractic care during pregnancy alleviates symptoms of back pain and sciatica associated with the postural changes, joint sprain/instability and muscular tension related to pregnancy.

Chiropractic care is safe and effective during and after pregnancy. We do not X-ray pregnant clients.
